Depending on the mp3 player you have, you may see the "Convert mp3(s) to wave(s)…" menu even if you aren't right clicking on a .mp3.  I won't go into the gorey details, but you'll want to be able to see file extensions to know for sure if a file is an mp3 or not.  You need to see the actual .mp3 extension to know that it is an mp3 file.  Sometimes, people will try to convert .rm,.ra,.asf,.wsm, and many others.  So how do you see what extension it is?

Follow these instructions to see file extensions.  Double click "My Computer".  Go to View and select "Folder Options…"  Click on the "View" tab and make sure that "Hide file extensions for known types" is NOT CHECKED.  Press "OK" and you should be able to see the file extensions now!
